MIC/SADD PRESENTS PROM DISASTER ASSEMBLY
MIC/SADD members worked diligently to present a message about irresponsible driving to the junior and senior classes. This message is especially important as the school year winds down--there are proms, graduation parties, and celebrations of all kinds when the weather is nice.
The audience was briefed on the consequences of driving while impaired and driving recklessly. Assisting in the assembly were Rostraver Police Lieutenant John Christner and Chef Resetar. Also participating were RWES representatives, Evelyn Rehe and Dough Washabauger. Mr. Shelby Ferguson assisted in the funeral scene. Accident-scene makeup was provided by artists from Tom Savini's Special Effects School at Douglas School of Business. Students also viewed a video of a drunk driver going through the arrest procedure at the police barracks. Grim Reaper presentations occurred at the end of the presentation, where drunk driving statistics were stated.
MIC/SADD members also sponsored the Prom Promise Pledge prior to the prom. Students were encouraged to make a pledge to make the right choices during this prom and graduation season.
An enactment of a fatal scene was presented:
Thankfully, this was a "staged" activity, and all our family and friends are
fine.
The good end results that we experienced are, unfortunately, not
normally the results from a real wreck.
Be Responsible! Be Safe!
